Hola, sunshines!
Just as I had hoped I came back from Tulum with a little bit of a tan, but a way bigger smile! As far as Tulum went: we came, we saw and WE GOT ENGAGED!!! To say it was a trip of a lifetime, would be a complete understatement. The beach was beautiful, the food was incredible and the proposal was completely breathtaking.
So, I will give you a little bit of the love story and then, I will get to allll the Tulum to-do’s! Nick will also be posting a recap video of the trip here soon!
Needless to say, Nick completely surprised me. He proposed at the top of our resort, Kanan Tulum. We were in a bird’s nest up in the trees, with both the ocean and jungle in sight. I have never been loved by a man so well, with nothing but the best intentions, and his only other thought other than my excitement, was how could we honor the Lord in the moment. SO SPECIAL.
He had hired a photographer to capture every moment; and we finished the night with dinner and worship music under the stars! We are so blessed and excited for this new chapter; fully believing that the best is yet to come!

NOW—on to all the travel to-dos!
Tulum is absolutely an amazing destination. The beaches are beautiful and the architecture makes you feel like you are in a movie! It is the perfect combination of relaxation, night life, with simplistic, jungle aesthetics. Truly the definition of Pinterest coming to life!
Travel:
We flew Delta out of Atlanta into the Cancun airport. The flight was about 2 hours; so just pick a movie & relax! Once we landed, the typical airport chaos was minimal, customs was easy but the next step- remember this if you remember nothing else! I am so thankful we were prepared!
Transportation:
I used Viator.com to book eTransfers, a private driving company, for our driver to Tulum and back to the airport. It sounds way more luxurious than it was- I promise! We paid about $150 for both of us round trip; but safety was our first priority. Our information was secure, we felt safe with our driver and we did not have to get in the car with a random person to leave the airport. You can’t ever be too careful!
Accommodations:
We stayed at the Kanan Tulum resort, and we have nothing but positive things to say! The architecture was stunning, the room was spotless, the staff was AMAZING. Seriously- if you go, definitely look into this resort.
Just to name a few of the perks:
2 restaurants directly in the resort (1 on the beach, 1 on the roof)
1 restaurant linked into the lobby of the hotel
Full direct access to the beach with free huts & cabanas- some beach clubs can cost upwards of $150 per person/ day
Yoga, spa, pool- truly heaven in a tree house!
Things to See:
There are SO many things to see, you really need much more than a long weekend! But there are a few that we would give the highest marks to: the famous sculpture at Ahau Collection, Azulik, and the Jungle Gym. Some we didn’t make it to and we wish we would have: Casa Malca and the cenotes. Both require extra travel, and we decided to relax on the beach instead!

Food:
The food in Tulum was an experience of its own! We ventured from $1 street tacos, to acai bowls, gourmet steaks and of course my favorite- fried mac & cheese wontons! (Thank you, Karma Tulum!) Bold flavors and beautiful garnishes were featured in EVERY meal- we were definitely impressed! For drinks, absolutely be sure to stop by Gitano and Nomade!
Tulum was the trip of a lifetime! For a romantic getaway or an adventure for the girls, you will not be disappointed by the stunning views and atmosphere. It is definitely on our list to go back to, just with a tad bit more planning next time!
Until then, I will be picking wedding florals and place settings! XOXO
