As we jump into 2018, the Spring and Summer seasons are quickly approaching. Wholesale markets and fashion weeks around the world are now naming the trends for the seasons, especially since the color of the year has been released. These trends will have you running to shop!
For colors, we are seeing a lot more than the neutrals of previous years. The top picks are purple, pinks, yellows, and reds. The lighter shades will make more of an appearance in the spring; while darker hues will debut in the Summer to Fall transition.

Textures—they will be everywhere! Feminine ruffles and laces will collide with masculine pant suits to create a look worth wearing. Soft fabrics make the look more wearable for the everyday women, while also elevating everyday style. Patterns are also making a comeback this year. An immense number of stripes and polka dots will populate the marketplace. Denim will stay around this year by continuing to hold its ground as a necessary staple.

You can’t forget the shoes! Ladies, it’s time to break out your sneakers and pointed toes. These trends range from casual to the dressiest and everything in between. White accessories are also a big to do for Spring/ Summer 2018. Platform and flatform shoes will continue to be a hit. We will also see glitter shoes from many different designers.
Women will be given more of an opportunity to dress specifically for their shape and style. The pant suits will serve as an easy transition from day to night, while two-piece sets will add sass and style. Mix and match will also make these pieces versatile.

Fluid fabrics and fun shapes will leave women feeling comfortable in their purchases. Most of these trends are a nod to the 80s as well. Structure, crops, flares and high waists can be seen from a multitude of designers. Other nods to the 80s include micro-florals, puffy sleeves, wide belts and who could forget the fanny pack? The bottom line for spring is use statement pieces to show your inner sassy style.
“Colour is key (whether bold or pastel), the ’80s won’t quit, and if you’re going to do power dressing in our current times, you don’t have to be all shoulders and stilettos—but the option is most definitely there.”—Who What Wear

These upcoming trends will be the perfect pieces for women who are in the corporate world who like to incorporate their own style and trends in their everyday outfits. Mixes of staples and trend pieces will allow for a wardrobe full of color, neutrals, textures and patterns to have the perfect outfit for any event. The versatility in the styles seen on the runway allow for movement and layering to make outfits creative. We are so excited as we head into spring and summer to incorporate these on the retail front, as well as in our own closets. Oh, and don’t be afraid to look to your mom’s pictures from her high school and college days for a little inspiration!
